A Story of a Dress in Chinatown

A collaboration with French designer Marie-Ophélie Nouvel, this fashion shoot captures a hand-made dress on the streets of Chinatown in New York.
Blending fashion and street culture, the images highlight the dialogue between crafted elegance and the raw textures of the urban environment.

More than a styled editorial, the shoot follows the dress as it steps into real life—worn with confidence and presence, it becomes part of the city’s rhythm. The dress lives not in isolation but in motion, shaped by the person who wears it and the streets she moves through. Fashion, here, becomes less about presentation and more about embodiment.

→ My role: concept development, photography, creative direction, styling collaboration, post-production

  • Concept & Narrative: Collaborated with French designer Marie-Ophélie Nouvel to explore the relationship between crafted elegance and urban grit — capturing a handmade dress moving through the streets of New York’s Chinatown.

  • Creative Direction: Developed the visual story as a living narrative — where the dress becomes part of the city’s rhythm, reflecting themes of embodiment, movement, and cultural dialogue.

  • Styling & Location Collaboration: Selected environments that contrast texture and tone — alleyways, storefronts, signage — to highlight the dress as both sculptural and street-ready. Directed wardrobe in context with each scene.

  • Photography: Shot the entire series with an emphasis on natural light, candid movement, and composition that bridges fashion with documentary sensibility.

  • Direction on Set: Guided pacing, poses, and in-the-moment responses to the environment — allowing the model and garment to interact organically with the city.

  • Post-Production: Led editing to balance softness with grit — preserving authenticity while enhancing visual cohesion and mood across the series.
